    Type 38 rifle with interesting stock stamping

    A guy came into this weekends gun show with a few photos of a rifle he had at home, just a typical type 38 but had been sporterized with stock cut back to use as a hunting rifle. Very crisp stamp in stock,,,,what do we have here guys?

    Looks like a fantasy carving to me. Kanji does not look correct.

      Paul is correct: FANTASY!

      Though, it looks like whomever it was was attempting the following kanji:

      Top:



      Middle: ???? that middle one is TOTALLY made-up! Or, he really mangled this:



      Bottom:


      抜練用 Doesn't make sense .... Remove/Omit - Training/Practice - Use. Maybe he just tried to copy some kanji?

        Vet was in the Navy so it may have been carved up to make it more appealing at time it was purchased
