    Info on this Japanese flag?

Thoughts on this flag? Is it authentic Japanese? The Japanese writing looks a bit sloppy to me and in the same ink as the names. Is the entire thing a vet made souvenir? or just decorated by other vets? What kind of value are we talking?

Got it from a WW2 vet's estate. Top says To Woody + Oczy. Which were the nicknames for him and his wife.

"Woudstra, Delores Mrs. Delores A. "Oczy" Woudstra, age 91 of Grand Rapids passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 2, 2018."

Looks like an authentic period flag, but signed (occupation period) by the Takahashi 高橋 family (husband, wife, son, 2 daughters) on the right side. The kanji is very artistic ... and mostly unreadable to me.

That initial unreadable kanji is “Prayers” 祈, but I sure cannot make out the following kanji!

Ah well now it makes sense. It was a gift from that Japanese family to the veteran and his wife
