    Translation for sake cup

    Hello everyone,

    Could you help me translate the inscriptions on this sake cup?

    海軍 満期 記念 芳賀
    Kaigun Manki Kinen Haga
    Navy Term-Fulfillment Commemoration Haga
    The last two kanji on the bottom, Haga, are the sailor’s surname.

      Maybe this cup was give to a new Imperial Navy soldier at the end of his military training?

        This cup was purchased by the sailor to commemorate his completion of service (full term of three years or whatever). According to Nick Komiya, the cups would have been given to supporters, family, or friends. [If I remembered that correcly.]
