    Japanese cap opinions needed

How does this hat look as to original or not. I feel it looks good, but I don't see enough good ones to really be sure. I would appreciate any help you may give.

No worries - Hat is 100% legit! It's dated Showa 18 (1943) and has a nice, bright white sewn in label. Looks almost unissued (certainly no one filled in the label) and it has that wonderful "spider leg" stitching around the side vent holes and the back tensioner holes. Often the side vent holes have metal grommets (painted brown) installed but I love the look of the hand stitched vents you have.
The cloth strip tensioner in the back is 100% correct too

This isn't rare - but it's a very nice example of the seaman's cap and 100% legit which was the main question you had.

How did you come upon it?

Thank you. I appreciate that. I haven`t gotten it, but have a chance to. What is it worth, $200 ?

Again, a seaman's green IJN cap is the most common of all - so it's not rare in itself. But inside the variations and evolutions of these caps, the sewn in label caps are desirable and this one is a good example.

Yes $200 -$225 is a fair price. Pull the trigger

I agree on value. Sewn in labels more desirable variation of this very common cap
