Help with Army tunic

Hello everyone,
I don't know Japanese Army tunics at all. Based on my research, I am assuming this tunic is a type 98 enlisted tunic. My question is this: was this style of tunic seen here, used in the pacific? Or is this style too heavy? I have heard of tropical tunics, but does that just mean that its not wool? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Looks like a standard cotton Type98/Type3 but according to Hewitt's book it's a Winter Cotton Work Uniform and heavily lined with reinforcement patches on elbows and shoulders.

Aloha Paul, Tropical uniforms are similar to the cotton summer Type98’s but I think the only difference is the ventilation openings under both sleeves with (button down) flaps. I’m not sure if they used the summer Type98 uniforms in their Island campaigns.
I like the short sleeve shirts best for that tropical look. Here’s mine I posted in the US Militaria Forum.

Griffin Militaria has a 2nd model and Collector’s Guild has two sets of tropical tunic & trouser uniforms on their sites.

Shoulder reinforcement (and presumably the elbows too) show this to be a winter type 98 tunic, as was mentioned. I wouldn't call this a tropical tunic.
