the buttons look similar to the officers buttons on my m38 cap, maybe it was trying to pass itself off as an army jacket. Those sort of coats are similar to the firefighter coats. Though i could be wrong and i hope someone can prove me wrong. For now my guess is its a firefighters jacket either rebuttoned or its an officers coat for something civil.
