Can someone confirm the case here is wrong for the award?
Also can anyone date the case, I suspect it's for a 2nd class Rising Sun?

Correct case for the Sacred Treasure Second Class. Compare the "ancient seal script" on the inside of your box lid to this image from Rich Catalano's site.

勲二等瑞宝章
Kun'nitō Zuihōshō
Note: it uses the old kanji 寳 for treasure. New kanji: 宝

These boxes might be for presentation to foreigners. I seem to recall a post from a German whose grandfather received a similar award, and I'm pretty certain the presentation boxes had multiple Paulowania Leaves "diapered" (heraldic term meaning "sprinkled") on the lid.
