    WW2 vet bringback help

Among the items in a USMC vet's estate are a pin and sash. The sash is 58 inches x 2.5 inches has a red stamp near one end.
    What are they?

I think that may be a Chinese medal, let’s see what others say but my gut says Chinese.

I've seen enamel badge before. I think (?) it's an unofficial unit wound badge. Don't hold me to that

          Good recall Jareth!

It's not identified specifically but it looks like it might be awarded by a prefecture (?).

            Jareth, Blinky,
WOW! The badge is exactly like one at the link you sent. The holes at 3 and 9 o'clock are there, and the inscription on the back is the same.

            Thanks,
            Adam

(I thought the 'sash' would be the first to be ID'ed.)

              All,

I called this a 'sash' but don't really know what it is. Do you have any suggestions? I'll make an effort to chase down any ideas you present.

I think you're right about it being a sash but for what organization I have no idea. Someone who can read kanji might be able to figure some of it out but it's pretty hard to read (and the kanji is upside down ) Maybe it's related to the badge?

I tried a few days ago but the image was too fuzzy -- beyond my skill, even after I inverted and expanded it.

Trying to corral the possibilities... Do you think the sash is IJA, IJN issue or privately obtained?

Looks civilian -- but I'm no subject-matter expert.

Here's a civilian one with reversed colors: White with red borders.

There were a few papers in the vet's effects. I'm showing most here in the off chance the sash is mentioned? The photos of the graying paper were enhanced for clarity.
I can make blow ups of anything you'd like to see in more detail.

PS. There are two more paper items that will take some careful handling to get the text - see next reply.

Sorry ... all I can make out is the circular prayer. This chant is used by Nichiren Buddhists, as well as Nichiren Shoshu Buddhists [Sokka Gakkai was a lay affiliate from 1952-1991].

                            南無妙法蓮華経
                            Namu Myōhō Renge Kyō
Hail the Mysterious Law of the Lotus Scripture

The "namu" portion, 南無, is a transliteration from Sanscrit "Namas" > Chinese "Námó" > Japanese "Namu".

Image added to show correct orientation. The central kanji is the above "南無妙法蓮華経"

Your stamped sheet looks to be a monetary receipt from the 245th Field Post Office, dated June 11, 1943. Unfortunately, I know very little about the numbered field post offices, but if something comes up location wise when I am rooting around, I will post it.
