alittle help needed, please.

I have noticed a lot of photos of Japanese soldiers with small flags either attached to a rifle and/or bayonet. I was wondering if anyone has a photo showing this is greater detail. Or, if anyone knows exactly how they attached the flags and if they were attached to the rifle or bayonet. I thought that this would make a neat display with a couple of my type 38 rifles. Thanks for the help.

The flag was either looped/tied onto either the front sight guard or over the muzzle end then tied to second band sling swivel.
