Japanese cartridges are completely made of steel

    Hello !
This cartridges were found in machinen gun mag. First time for me, it's traning or for some other uses ? And strips on the body, is it traces of machining, or is this marking?
    Thanks for looking.
    Regards, Anton

Yes, these are practice or training rounds. There are several varieties of materials - steel, brass, combinations. They were often used to traing the loading steps for tYpe 96 and 99 lmg's.

In the illustration below you can clearly see the lines in the cases on the ammo being loader into the lmg magazine.

Yours is 7.7 for the Type 99 mag. The ones in the illustration are 6.5 for the Type 96 lmg.

Thank you for illustrating, it is really interesting for what there these risks are probably marking for the fact that the recruits are not confused.
