    Naval Celestial Globe

    Hello,
I'm a longtime lurker on this forum. My collecting interest lies more on the firearms side of Japanese collectables.

A few months ago, I purchased at an estate sale, four Japanese Naval navigational items that I have been wondering if they have any identifying connection to each other. Any help at all with basic translation would be very much appreciated.

I will attempt to list each one separately to avoid confusion.

First what looks to be a Japanese Celestial Globe. I have never seen another one of these and don't know how common they might be?

I've seen some before - but slightly different materials then yours. these are often sold thru nautical type antique stores. I think these were direct copies of British ones as why would you "recreate the wheel" on such a complex mapping. Really like to see what the kanji translates to on the side.

The one below has an identical ID plate but only a few hundred difference in the serial number.

Have no idea of the value, but have seen these a few times

I'm NOT going to try to translate those instructions!!!

      Writing on box side:
      航通備第一〇二號
      Flight/Sail/Navigation Traffic Equipment No 102

      Data plate:
      星球儀
Seigyu Gi [I'm guessing on the pronunciation]
      Star Globe

      株式会社玉屋商店銀座東京
      Kabushikigaisha Tamaya Sh
      ōten Ginza Tōkyō
Ltd. Co. Tamaya Shop Ginza Tokyo

Tama means jewel as well as ball ... So "The Ball (globe) Shop"
