    Japanese NCO Sword Nnot/Tassel

I would like to see a military site and/or pictures of original WW2 Japanese NCO sword knots/tassels.

I am interested in picking-up, purchasing, an original sword knot/tassel in very good to excellent condition.

This area of collecting is totally foreign to me, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

I look forward to your replies.

    Sincerely,

    Vilja

Mr. Ohmura's site is focused on the Japanese military swords. It's in Japanese. Partial content has been translated to English.

        Perhaps this will help ....

        Ohmura's page about tassels --

        刀緒
        Tōcho
        Sword tassel

        将官刀緒 / 佐官刀緒 / 尉官刀緒 / 海軍士官刀緒
General officer / Field Grade / Company Grade / Naval Officer

        刀緒両端を反対の糸で縁取った
          上等品がある
Image of sword tassels next to each other for comparison
        These are first-class items

        品質と無関係に結び方は二種類ある
Regardless of quality, there are two ways of knotting the tassel.

        刀緒の結び方と品質
           左:上等品・右:並品
        Knot-tying methods and quality
Left: Superior Quality; Right: Regular Quality

The NCO sword knots are made of leather, there are some on the site link from oldhonda but I can’t post pics to the thread.

          Good stuff Guy!

          Regards

Contact WAF member Doug Austin (Austo1) or through his web site.

Other than me spelling the word Knot wrong in the title of this post, this has been a remarkable display on just how well collectors can come together to share their time and knowledge on a specific topic.

The pictures and links supplied were absolutely incredible, quite sunning and extremely informative.......what a way to set someone on the right path as they get their feet wet.

So I just want to say thank you to all who responded and I know it was also a help to many others who also wanted to know a bit more about Japanese knots and tassels.

                Sincerely,

                Vilja
