Hinomaru Evaluation Please

A friend of mine is asking $600 for this Hinomaru style flag, the staining while fairly common really detracts, and I plan on only getting one, for the background of my sword display rack. Lots of kanji and a decent tiger but its just not doing it for me!
Unless something important is described, I think Ill pass.

To me I like old looking flag, especially that tiger.

I'd say that unless you can figure out who exactly the two naval officer signatures belong to (tech. captain and tech. lieut.), and if they are historically significant, $600 might be a little much.

Its a great looking flag, with a lot going for it! Tiger art flags are fairly uncommon, and Navy related flags are as well. It would make a great addition to any flag collection. However, if I was only going to have 1 flag being displayed as a backdrop for my sword collection, I would pursue another. The staining to me would be a little distracting, and if it was displayed in a common area in my house, may be a little much for guests who cannot understand the historical significance of such items. Price to me also seems pretty high. I would expect to be paying about half of the asking price, unless translation reveals something significant.
