Silk Banner full of artwork

Hello everyone, I am not really sure what this is called. Its not a flag per se, but more of a art banner. This was given as a gift to a departing soldier, much like a good luck flag. Its made of silk and covered with artwork and writing. It seems to have many different subjects on it; Geisha, a tiger, and many male figures. The group of gathered men appear to be in a class type setting, possible an art class. If anyone can tell me anything about it, I would appreciate the information. Thanks and enjoy.

Paul, what a wonderful yosegaki!!!!! The recipient's name is Kadoma Tarō. We learn his first name in a separate well-wisher's remark; all others just call him by his family name Kadoma.

Apparently his art name. In one of the corners is a sketch of an older man with toothbrush mustache and thin hair. His name is something-yama. That kanji I cannot read is the same kanji in circles throughout the yosegaki. I'm thinking this man is "Distant Turtle."

Regarding the circles with a kanji. This is done when a seal-stamp is not available; in this particular case it is the artist's pen name ... which I cannot read.
