Inscription on japanese armor. need help.

I'll have a look tomorrow when I have more time. It is dated:

天保十八年
Tenpo 18th Year
1841

The first year of Tenpo was 1831.


And two mentions of the family name:
岩井
Iwai

I can't read the given names yet ... but I'll look in to the task tomorrow.

Google found Tenpo only had 15 years, which is 1844.

That character does look like 八. That's very odd. It won't be 六 because Tenpo didn't go that far. Maybe it's 三？
