Japanese helmet cover and net on estand

Is it me or is that a pith helmet minus the stiffeners and not a helmet cover ? Can’t add a link as I am on ze iPhone . Rob

Looks like the soldier was a fisherman too, looks to have one of those Japanese fishing ball nets on it.

It is a pith helmet without the liner system as you’ve said. The net is not ‘standard’! These piths were worn over a helmet, but it is not a helmet cover. To be fair, seller just says ‘cover’.

I know zero about japanese helmets so i asked our moderator Daniel Griffin in case there was something fake and he told me:

"The cover is actually a tropical helmet which has been used to cover the steel helmet - not typically seen this way, but I see no reason to doubt it."

So as long as everything is original i see no problem, i d say it was used this way.
