I let other to confirm and translate.

Chen, I think your number 1 is where the soldier was activated and remained for at least the entries on the page shown. Both Manchu 514 and Tobu 13 are the same artillery unit within the 1st Div. He was with the 3rd Battalion throughout (with possibly a stint at an army school in there), going to Battalion HQ near the end of the entries. I would imagine that your highlighted number 2 is the Battalion order number for movement (my interpretation). The 1st Div. was in movement about this time to head off to the Philippines.

Ed - is there any further writing on the backside of the page that all the hand written entries can be found? If you don't mind me asking, is this a veteran captured booklet?

    Thanks!

I am sure it was a capture item. I have a couple pickers that buy estates and whenever they find military related items . They give me first choice on the items they find. I will see if he will tell me where it came from. Thanks for all the info so far. Ed

Thanks, Ed. A vet. capture would make sense. I would imagine that it was picked up on Leyte or less likely, Cebu City.

A little extra info: looks like the soldier in your booklet did a stint at NCO school.
