Gold Tassel on officer's sword

Hi all,

Picked up a couple officers swords today, each had a tassel one being a lieutenant/major and the other with all gold which has me stumped. Attached are pics. Post war add on or perhaps something for good luck?

This seems to be a tieback (had to ask the wife the nomenclature) for a curtain or for drapes. You can do a burn test but I don't think this is military, etc.

A side by side comparison with the company grade officer tassel (brown and hard to see blue)... I know it's tied incorrectly but I'll leave it like it like I got it.

Just showing differences so this thread has some worth to others...

I agree - post-war curtain tie back. The two tiny loops at each end go on the hook embedded in the wall at the edge of the window.

The company grade tassel is broken in the strap. So difficult to mount , unless its repaired.
