    Japanese Rifle

Can you fellows tell me about this? I know nothing about it. Was going to list it for sale but no idea the model, what they go for or anything!
    Thanks!

Looks like a school training rifle with the buttstock markings. But could also be one of the rifles taken out of active service for reserves or schools. Is there any markings on the receiver or any pics we could get. The more we have, we can help you out!

I agree with above. Check if barrel is rifled or smooth.

No need for further details as it's absolutely a common trainer

                  The brand identifies it as

                  吉井公
                  Yoshi'i Kō

I do not know the meaning of "Kō" in this context -- as written, it would be "Government Official" but that doesn't make sense to me .... unless some rich guy had his own armory, or supplied these to a school?

The three kanji can also be read as a surname 吉井 (Yoshi'i) and the given name (Akira, Tadashi, Hiro, and Masa); but again, that does not make sense for a government-supplied weapon.

Hopefully another reader can shed some light on our conundrum
