        It's a genuine WW2 Japanese. No problem there. It's not very high quality, however.

            Agree - authentic and Navy. You can see the patina on the outer edge which would have protruded beyond the dai-seppa (rising sun seppa).

                  The shape of the nakago-ana (tang hole) looks like the blade was kata-hirazukuri [single-sided flat shape]; similar to this, but with a more acute angle on the flat side:

                        That's one seriously unusual tsuba! It doesn't have the usual telltale signs of a fake, but it is missing some "normal" details. Due to the obvious custom needs of the blade, I don't feel too bad about them being missing. All the details of the blossoms look right, and they are one of the things the fakers usually get wrong.

                        Guy, or anyone else - has anyone seen a sword blade with this kind of edge? Just curious.

                          My heart says, ooh an unusual variation, my head says, too far out from the norm. Buy it for a pittance as a curiosity, or pass on to something more mainstream.
