    navy cap

Just picked this one up over the weekend at a car swap meet. (go figure)! Just randomly talking to a vendor about WWII memorabilia and he pulled this cap out of his trailer and offered it to me.

Its an authentic seaman's summer cap - as far as doing well what did you pay for it?

He was firm on $150 cash. Didn't have time for research as I was on my way out for a long drive home.

                Thanks for all the comments

You did good! I recommend you post the pictures with kanji in a different post and ask fro translation help in the Title so Guy or Tom or such men can help you learn more about the previous owners.

Ps - DO NOT wash it or clean it at all! just leave it as is and keep out of direct sunlight

                    Nice cap!

Issued from Sasebo Naval Depot in May, 1944 to a Nakamura, although there is a Takamoto named on the side of the cap as well. Very interesting to see that the Takamoto name is not crossed out when issued to Nakamura. Have to get to the bottom of those over/under number designations.

Thank you Tom. Actually the bottom name is crossed out on the right bottom side but faded. left side looks untouched. Also 4/53 and name on the inside but hard to read in the photo.
