    Blade Help

There appears to be no swordsmith marks on blade. Any way to determine when it was made?

    Thank you

From what I see so far I'm inclined to agree.

          Disappointing

That was s disappointing if true. I bought it years ago from a reputable dealer.
What makes you say it is a recent repro.

The nakago is very crudely formed. Possibly a theater made replacement blade.

              Sword

With that crude tsuba and the fact that every time I see a habaki molded to the blade like that its China or Pakistan that comes to mind

My friend, you don't show enough of the blade to add to the evaluation, but everything that you do show is not Japanese made. This is made by SOMEONE to look Japanese, but it's not close.

Here is a link to how real Japanese war sword fittings look: http://ohmura-study.net/905.html

Now, there were occupied nations, Java being a famous one, who made swords for thier troops and intentionally, made them in Japanese style. The artwork on this one isn't quite as good as even those, but the tang looks similar to their work. So, it's possible this WAS a war sword, just not made by the Japanese. The problem is that there were, and are, many fakes/replicas being made, that it's not really possible to know.
