Japanese canteen and cover

just picked this up.
Is it a ww2 japanese canteen.
has a tight fitting cover no marking except on the cork cap.

The cork cap looks like those on the WWII Chinese canteen. The cover and maybe even the canteen body do not look like a known Japanese variation. The color of the canteen, style of cover, cork cap, and braiding point to Chicom or maybe Vietnamese?

Yes, NVA or VC......very nice set! To be honest this is a bit more unique than a Japanese canteen and carrier. It shows field use and wear so most likely came back as a souvenir of Vietnam.
