    Help identify medals (nice picture)

    Hi folks,

I have a friend whose great-grandfather fought in the Japanese Imperial Navy in WWI. He has only this picture of him from that time. His idea is to identify the medals and bought some originals to make a display to honor him.

However, Jap stuff is not my field of collecting. Anyone can identify the medals? Also, where can I find them to buy? prices?

I think that the last medal is the WWI Victory, but it seems to have some bars... is it correct? what bars could be?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Douglas.

      3. Could be 1914-1920 War Medal or 1914-1915 War meda both are similiar in appearance

          Thanks

          Coastie,

Thanks for your help. But it was possible to Inter-Allied Victory Medal have any "campaign bars" or something like that?

If you look closely, it looks that this sailorĀ“s medal had at least three bar? Or was it an light effect over the ribbon?

          Thanks,

          Douglas.

PS - Any good dealers on Internet that deals with Japonese stuff ?

I don't know the answer to either question. Never heard of campaign bars for the Japanese one.

              Douglas,

I checked my copy of Orders & Medals of Japan and Associated States by James W. Peterson and there was no mention of the Japanese Victory Medal being equipped with campaign bars.

              Hope this helps.

                  Douglas,

Glad I could be of some assistance.

By the way, a good place to check for orders and medals is on eBay as they come up often.

                  Eric
