There are dozens more, you can see he varies the style of writing and the layout of the flags. Hard to catch for a non Japanese.

Thanks for posting Paul. I hate to blow smoke, but one good thing about this fellow's creations is that his "writing" is very deliberate and legible. For anyone trying to learn to read the characters, he has made counting strokes and reading the names easier to practice. I would suggest that Paul's "library" as posted be used as such. Many of these can be located in"The Kodansha", "A Guide to Reading and Writing Japanese", or anywhere else online such as Midori. So, in a bad sort of way, he has become a good resource! Nevertheless, the motto, "Let the buyer beware!" continues on stronger than ever.

Thank you Rod, Stu, GHP and Paul for taking the time to respond with your knowledge.

                  Thanks Paul!
I actually got this one at a garage sale,so I assumed it was OK-but apparently someone else bought it and passed it off to me.
I had it listed for sale but have since had to remove it since Id rather not continue the chain..
                  Thanks again everyone,lesson learned!!

I was wondering how long it would take for that to happen. Sorry you got caught with it. Hopefully you didn't pay much more than the original selling price of $80. It makes a pretty nice backdrop for your Japanese display if you have one. I am really surprised at how fast it got turned around. That is one of the better fakes around, you couldn't have known unless you are a native speaker/writer of Japanese.

                      I paid $100,unfortunately.
I've bought several in the past that turned out to be original-but there were other items along with them to lend some sort of credence (USMC or Navy groupings)

This one was all by itself, which I guess should have been a red flag.
Oh well..Live and learn-Look out for fakes everyone!

Looks like he only signs cotton flags or have you seen silk ones as well?

Thank you for the warning, I would have been fooled too.

How did you have the original eBay sellers pictures available when you bought it at a garage sale? Confused

Paul added eBay pictures from his records,I believe.
I cannot speak for him,but I assume he saves them for research?
