            Hi Bruno,

One must remember that patience is a virtue and at our age probably the only one we have left.

I found the attached image on the Net listed as a Police Palace Guard helmet. Not my area of expertise so take that as a research starting point only.

            Regards,
            Stu

Civil defense for sure. Police symbol for sure. I would never claim the title "palace guard" as the picture description did.

Hello Bruno,The metal tabs with holes are to attach the neck protection flap which was to keep sparks and falling embers from going down the tunic.Regards,Geoff

Hello Bruno, there are many different styles of Civil helmets here is a variation of one that has a ridge or "Bump"

Is totally agree - there is also very little reason or rhyme to them in the last months of the war. It's just a mix and match of whatever materials could be had - desperate people doing desperate things!
In my opinion they are interesting but i see them as a bit of a side show (the vast majority not military in any way) and not something I would pay much money for - nor fill my shelves with them either. But that's just me - your mileage may vary

I agree Beretta!! In a way it is quite sad, but I respect observing the progressions and variations toward the last ditch items. They are a somber indication of the conditions faced by the Civil Defense organizations and the general public ,who could also purchase the items for their families .After all..What Father could refuse a wife he loved to not provide a helmet to protect his child... Regards,Geoff
