Original japanese sword or just a fale/repto?

I would like some help on this item.
Is this a original japanese sword or justa repro/fake?
Sorry for the photos, but I do not have it on My Hands to take better Ones.

I am not necessary convinced it is a fake. Could also just be a lower quality private procurement civilian sword carried by officers and enlisted men in the army and the gunzoku. Just like all Japanese soldiers and sailors didn't always use Nambu's. Some opted to carry their own pistols like Brownings, Colts, and FNs.

It's a definite fake. Look at the habaki with the 天皇 "Tenno" [Emperor] kanji on it!

Thanks Guy. I looked again and finally saw what you referenced. I didn't even catch that it even had kanji in the picture in the first viewing. For the reason you identified, I agree. That is definite evidence. I was basing it on the scabbard and blade in general and pointing out the fact that civilian swords were also in existence.
