Rifle end cap question

I picked up a sporterized type 99 this weekend, but it still had the dust cover and this end cap. It looks real to me, and the dust cover is numbered, but I really have no way or knowledge in these end caps. How does one tell if they are original? Thanks.

Looks good to me and just like the ones I've had. Be sure to never leave a plastic one on the gun and under spring tension - if you did it would bend (by creep) or break it for sure

Thank you for the info. I didn't know that and was going to put it on my paratrooper rifle. I'll just set it on in the safe.
