    map case tools ???

    Good day Gentlemen,
I'm posting this inquiry on behalf of a friend of mine who recently acquired a WW2 Japanese map case. He is hoping to fill it with period maps, measuring tools and marking implements. Any information or images of the tools that were carried in the map case would be greatly appreciated.

You might want to have your friend check with the Vermilion County War Museum in C. Illinois.

When I was there last, they had a Japanese map case on display with the items still packed inside. Hopefully they have an inventory list of what is inside and might be able to shed light on what was contained inside.

I personally think that contents and tools varied greatly depending on what type of unit was using the map case. Engineers probably had different kinds of tools/maps in their cases when compared to medical units, signal units, etc.
