But as you say, it will be nice to know the dimensions -- then we can take better guesses; and, unless we can find a wiki-image of one in use, ours are only going to be a guess, eh?

Sorry, I didn't read the first post carefully.
There may be no way to know since there are no inscriptions. However, military-themed items were made in the millions from 1895-1945. Made for civilians as well to promote nationalism--or just to sell whatever it was they were selling, much as in the USA today they have a multitude of items with the American flag on it.
