    Japanese NCO sword

Just picked up a nice WW2 Japanese NCO sword with matching numbers and a brass colored handle. I just want to know a ball park figure on one of these? I can post a few pics later.

A brass handle is a red flag for a Chinese made repro. Early Versions had copper handles and later they were aluminum then wood. I suggest you post photos asap.

Others may differ in their view but I believe you have a reproduction.

Edit: I've been asked if the brass handle (tsuka) is the only issue. No, there are several others. In no particular order, hand guard (tsuba), blood grooves (bohi), fuchi stampings, serial number, scabbard drag and probably the geometry of the tip have issues. I can't see the tip well enough to be sure but there is plenty there to form the opinion that this is a repro.

Reproduction for sure. Try to get a refund.

It still puzzles me that someone would got to so much trouble, labor and manufacturing effort to get so much right, yet not take enough care to get everything right. It's almost as is they are intentionally getting details wrong for some reason.

I believe that many of these repros are made to a standard that will fool most of the people most of the time. To fool all the people all the time would require an expenditure that would cause a decrease in the profit margin.

Very nice! They are both legit. Do you know everything you need to about them?
