    Flag

    Morning,

I picked up a number of photographs, awards, flags etc. from someone who’s father had been an active volunteer in the British Legion.

Amongst the items is this flag, its in really nice condition

    Thanks.

Not a yosegaki flag at all. It is only a souvenir flag, executed in the same hand, made for some foreigner(s). It says:

Henry, Doris (or Douris), and Martel
            1945
            Japan Until 27 November

I don't know if it is three people, or a man named "Henry Douris Martel."

            ヘンリー

            Henry

            ドウリス
            Doris

            マーテル
Martel [just a guess -- it's hard to pin down European names written in katakana]

            一九四五
            1945

            十一月二十七日
            27 November

[Next is an old kanji pronounced shō/made; not in the online dictionaries. Nelson's Kanji Dictionary says "see under " -- both kanji mean "until."]

            日本
            Japan
