Need help identifying writing on shin gunto tang

Recently acquired this sword and wondering if anyone can help interpret the Kanji?

Very interested in the date, swordsmith and/or any other information that might be discerned from the writing?

If more pics are helpful, let me know and I can post. I currently don't see any serial numbers, arsenal markings, etc on the blade but perhaps I'm not looking in the correct locations? This is my first sword.

    Thanks in advance!

I'm guessing that the Kanji is read from top down? And is the top word closest to the Habaki?

Hello Scott,Please don't use a photo sharing program when posting after a while the photos will disappear and the thread will be useless for viewers. Also if you will post the photos vertically as you mentioned it will make it easier for the reader to translate .

      P. 164, 2nd from the top MIGHT hold a clue.

We need our experts to sort this out for you.
