    Techo find at SOS

I am happy to report that I find a Techo from a rather hard to find conflict. [Story, short and sweet] I walk up to a table that accidently had a pre-WWI Techo labeled as from WWII. I examine it closely and notice the solider had a lot of action in Meiji 33 (1900). Now my heart start to beats. The very friendly lady at the table, who knew Japanese, and I start to examine the entries in detail. The solider was in China doing a variety of different military activities. I am now 99% sure I have a Techo from a soldier in the Boxer Rebellion. Just one more test. He is listed in the 5th division. I check the order of battle for the Japanese in the Boxer Rebellion and it included the 5th division! I got the Techo, his dogtag, and reservist paper. It is always fun to unearth a gem at a show.

Anyone else here at the SOS and find something cool?

Congratulations on finding such a great grouping! Sometimes you can 'buy the story' and sleep well afterwards. One of the things I love about Techo's is they can tell you where they've been and when. So cool!

A very rare conflict to find recorded in a techo, congratulations!

I am curious, are there any number entries within the techo that match it to the dog tag?

      Thanks!

Great question, made me double check. The battalion and company numbers match the dogtag and Techo. The Techo does not include the actually awarding of the Boxer Rebellion Medal, which would have been amazing. My guess is that since his reservist document is dated 1901 and he did not keep filling in his Techo past that, and since the medal was not awarded until 1902, then he might have received it later on and just did not fill in the rest. Nonetheless he was active in campaigns in China.
