Looks to me to be a standard IJA Officer sword in Type 98 mounts. Mass produced and valued in today's market at perhaps 800-1000 USD depending upon how well that blade will clean up. Is that grease on the blade?

              Regards,
              Stu

Please forgive my ignorance but what does IJA stand for ? I believe the blade would clean up well , looks like grease on it but didn't see any sign of a temper line . Any sense as to the age ? Thanks Stu .

The film "Idiocracy" was originally released as a comedy. Now it has been re-released as a documentary.

Could you remove the grease and take more photos?

WW2 vintage roughly speaking unless detailed pics of the blade show otherwise.

                      Regards,
