        Hi Ed.
I think the condition would be the main reason people would suspect it may be a reproduction. Does it have any manufacturer's stampings on the edge anywhere? That would be the best way to tell an original from a reproduction in this condition.

        Cheers

        Matt

Can not find any markings. Are all originals marked. Thanks again for any info. Thanks ed

            Hi Ed,

The grommets represent a pre 1944 shelter half, in 1944 there were a combination of leather triangles and steel corner grommets (obvious thing to say if it were dated). The sewn in loops are for a string that the soldier could use to tie it around his neck converting it into a rain cape. The loops appear in the wrong position, not close to the edge as this one. Shelter halfs always had depot and date stamps.
