    Strange problem with Naval Dagger

I have a WWII Japanese Naval Dagger with a "plastic" sharkskin grip. It has been stored in a Riker case with some other items. I checked it yesterday and noticed a large foggy spot on the inside of the glass directly over the grip. It had a funky smell to it. It was more like a dry chemical material rather than just plain moisture. Anyone else ever experience this?

The handle of the late war navy dirks was made of celuloid. I have heard of a fungus that eat celuloid films.
I would try take it out and store it for a while a dry place. With out sunlight.

Thanks for the info. I'll be checking it a little closer from now on.
