Japanese POW signed flag and papers etc.

Guy's just picked up this grouping locally from a relative of PFC Fritz Bock who was a MP stationed Tokyo after the war and was a guard at the prison camp where many generals, admirals and diplomats where in prison.

grouping includes a large silk flag with many names and titles in English as well as their name in Japanese underneath. Names are in light blue ink and hard to read, but many Generals etc. I shot pics of a few of them.

Also included is 2 pieces of paper money also with many names and signatures including Tojo's.

An article from a U.S. Newspaper telling Fritz Bock's story on guarding these prisoners and lastly a Customs declaration allowing him to bring back Captured Enemy material.

I collect mainly Imperial German helmets, but could not pass up this grouping.

Would love to hear any feedback thoughts?

    thanks

    James

Hmmm, I see "Shigetarō Shimada" there as well as several other readily recognizable names. If those signatures prove to be authentic, and I'm not suggesting otherwise, you might have yourself some very collectible and valuable items.

Archival sleeves to protect the documents as well as archival framing for the flag if it too has signatures of the mentioned figures.

                Regards,
                Stu

Cool -- I just passed by the Sugamo Prison today on the way to a hot springs public bath.

I thought nothing remained of it as now it's all the Sunshine 60 building?

I'll have to take another look later -- maybe the sign said "Sugamo Keisatsu-sho" -- I thought it said "Sugamo Keimu-sho."

I'll also see if the Sunshine 60 Building is near that sento-onsen.

                              Thanks Nick!
