IJA Surgical Kits - ID Request

Here are two different Surgical kits. Is anyone able to translate what each one is for.

G'day Rob,

The first kit is 四 號 外科器 "Number 4 Surgical Instruments".

Right side of the metal contents plate says, 四號外科器入附品目表 which rough means "number 4 surgical instruments content item table"

The second row from the top lists all the instruments in the kit, like various kinds of scissors, forceps, blades, hemostasis tools etc...


The next kit says 外科? "Surgical, but I can read the last kanji, sorry.

The inside just gives a list of articles found inside. This is the kanji for the heading 品目及順序表.

You have some very nice kits there mate.

Much appreciate your help. Would dearly like to know what that small kit is for though.

I have quite a few kits and will post them here for everyone to enjoy.

Scored another kit recently but won't receive it for another few months yet.

The kit shown here is a Field Surgical Kit.

PS Just realised that the Kanji looks the same on both kits, so the one I posted before must be another variation of the Field Surgical Kit. The term field must be a paraphrased translation as I couldn't find any Kanji for Field that resembled that on the canvas cover.

I think I may have cracked that mystery kanji. I think it is the character for pouch. 囊 I will add, this is the old kanji for the word, the new kanji looks like this 嚢

So all up, those kits have written "外科囊", Surgical pouch.

Another nice looking set by the way. First class stuff mate.

Those last two are in great condition. Very fine pieces.

As to your other surgical kits. I would think they were for field use by aid station doctors or medical corpsmen in the field. Their compact size leads me to think this. Something that can be carried with relative ease without the aid of motorised transport.
