            Hello,
Gunto > That's what I thought too until I posted this flag for opinions: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=737570

The flag cpmil just posted make me think of advertising flags from Asahi Shimbun newspaper which is a quarter of a rising sun with the kanji "朝" in it's center. Even if it's obviously not one of theese, I doubt it's ww2 and even more to be of military use. The lack of leather or paper tabs corner with ties and the overall shape (quarter rising sun) is more suspect to me than metal eyelets now.

Thanks for the info. It came with a bunch of WW2 original Japanese items, badges, medals, 2 Naval Katanas, photo album etc. Thanks, Mark.

I'm wondering if it hasn't been cut down from a full size flag and had grommets added for display purposes.

I'm also hopeful that Guy or Nick can assist with the kanji which might in turn provide a clue as to the origin/purpose of the flag.

                Regards,
                Stu

That is in a post war language invented in North America called Janapese. See here about a related language https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klingon_language
