Interesting letter to the matching man is a request for a 1 day shore leave to deal with family matters in his home in Yokohama. Dated Jan 10th 1942, it is addressed to his Captain, Shigeru Ujihara of the minesweeper Fujimaru. Your man was then an Engineer Petty Officer First Class, named Tadashi Haneda. His ship will leave for Ominato in Northern Japan on the 12th and spend the rest of the war in Northern Japan, so it was a narrow window he didn't want to miss. The captain was a Reserve Sub Lieutenant at the time. In red is the captain's approval of the leave.The ship survived the war.
