Something looks odd on bayonet frog band in rear. The shape of the screw also looks like a very early type 30 standard bayonet example. Remember scabbards don't always make a smooth fit bayonet to bayonet

I remember an old CADA show in Chicago had a fellow who would cut down Japanese scabbards to sell as para scabbards. He sold quite a few with bayonets with modern made short blades. The markings were the problem and never looked deep enough or correct. He did do a good job on the scabbards. Of course, this goes back at least 30 years ago.

From the photograph it does not appear to be an original paratrooper bayonet scabbard. Most steel Japanese scabbards have a very slight taper with no bulge at the throat. When they are cut down, the throat will not enter the shortened piece without enlarging the opening. The picture seems to show just that bulge at the throat which is not on an original scabbard be it a regular type 30 or the paratrooper bayonet scabbard.
