For an enlisted cap the lining is the wrong material (off white cotton muslin) and there are no acceptance stamps. There's no thread havelock loops around the body and the bill lacks the usual reinforcing stitching.

I don't know for sure what this cap is but I like mine to be classic military.

Cap is certainly not text book. Insignia is enlisted style application.

Further to what Jareth says about the star application being enlisted man, the vent holes and tie string holes are stitched enlisted style too. The chin strap rivets are plain, I believe officers caps had cherry blossom designs embossed.

After that it's anyone's guess, re-lined army cap, movie prop....
