Here are a couple pics of some Kanji on a friends Japanese sword. I know the pics are not the best to say the least and the tang is dirty/rusty and it obscures the bottom character. Thanks in advance.

Can we see the rest of the sword? The signature is located in an unusual location on the tang, and the characters seem to be cut fairly shallow.

In the meantime, what is written is:
武州周重
Bushū Shū Chikashige
There was a Chikasage lineage (pp. 37-38) -- but from my shallow research I find none who signed just 武州周重.
Example:
武州住周重
Bushū Shū jū Chikashige
Chikashige, resident of Musashi Prefecture
