    A Question About Japanese Insignia

    Gentlemen:

Would anyone know if the Japanese Army wore the branch of service breast insignia on enlisted and officer tunics? I am specifically referring to the "W" cloth badge worn above the right pocket on Japanese WWII Army tunics. The color of these badges indicated the branch of service.

Were these enlisted only badges or did officers wear them too?

Any information is very much appreciated.

    Best regards to all,

    Clay

    Both groups used them.

Those zigzag branch of service badges are mostly a prewar uniform item and were generally discontinued once the war began, particularly for troops overseas.
