thanks so much Guy. Is there much of collector's market for this blade maker?
The overall condition of this Katana is mint. I'm trying to figure out its value.
This little attachment is on the pommel. I have not seen that before. Any thouhgts?
That is the tomoe mon, one of the most common found in Japan. A mon is a family crest. There would not be any way to trace ownership of the sword just from this very common mon.
No offence meant but we can't possibly tell you a value from those photos. If you want a proper valuation done you will need to show us the entire sword.
Thanks for the additional photos. Can you show us a photo of the tsuba (hand guard) and seppa (washers on either side of tsuba) please as well as any saya (scabbard) that is with the sword. No need to dismantle the fitting. Just want to see if the tsuba is pierced and how many seppa are in the set before commenting further.
