small vet bringback group.. flag, rank, ribbon bars, medals, etc..

    Good day Japanese subforum!
Wondering if anyone can read this flag? The ink has bled a bit as it must have got damp during storage.

The other stuff.. I thought all this was to one man, but the ribbon bars do not match so I'm not sure.

Thanks for any input! This group of items was brought back by a US veteran.

you know.. looking again I see that the bars DO match! the first ribbon on the bigger bar is just badly faded.
or is it yellow?? Help appreciated.

So all of this could have been to one man?
if so, taken from a fallen or captured soldier no doubt.

Here is a photo of the backs of everything.

Probably not on the ribbons/medals. The bigger ribbon bar doesn't have the Rising Sun; the smaller bar doesn't have the Sacred Treasure. They can't wear both bars. The bars doesn't display the classes either so it can probably be any of the lower classes.

Much better than barefoot or dirty fingernails in the picture.

that was the only pic I could get before he started to go wild on the flag.

I had to stop him so he wouldn't damage it.
he loves pieces of cloth or paper.

This is what I can make out from the flag:

                  Top--
                  武運長久

                  Buun Chōkyū
                  Eternal Fortune in Battle

                  Right margin:

                  贈藏合英七君
                  Sō: Zōgō Eishichi-kun
                  Presented to: Mr. Zōgō Eishichi
[Eishichi can also be pronounced Hideshichi]

                  Left of presentation:
                  乙櫻会一同
                  Ō-Sakurakai Ichi Dō
The Second Sakurakai, Everyone [or Once]!

                  Upper left corner:
                  必勝
                  Hisshō
                  Certain Victory

                  Notes:
I can't fully read the first kanji of the surname, so I'm taking a leap of faith since it's an unusual name that ends in 合. Hopefully Rich or someone else can confirm or refute this.

And I'm not certain about the "Sakurakai" designation. At first I thought it was 二 (2) .... but that does not make sense in Japanese grammar ... so I've opted for 乙 which means "duplicate, B, second ..."

                    Guy,
thank you so much for your efforts.

Amazing to know it's named to the soldier. I wish there was a way to know if he was killed or a prisoner.

"Eternal Fortune in Battle".. I like that.
                    thanks,
                    -Brian
