Anyone know what this Is ??

    Hi Guys,

I am not normally into WW2 Japanese militaria but I recently came across this medallion in its original leather pouch with chain. I have no idea what it is.

It looks to be made of solid silver and measures 4.5 cm in diameter.

Can anyone tell me what it is ? It is clearly military in origin.

    Best regards

    Tony A.

Nice! South China Expeditionary Army Commem. medal to Unit 8114: 67th Ind. Inf. Batt. Hong Kong Defense Force. Quite desirable!

A commemorative medallion for service in Southern China for the Matsumoto company of the 8114 unit (code for the 67th independent Inft battalion in charge of defending Hong Kong)

Thanks very much indeed ! That makes a lot of sense. My grandfather must have brought it home after the liberation of Hong Kong and I found it whilst clearing my own father's effects.

Curious if this originally had a ribbon?

Imo, I wouldn't think that this would have a ribbon. It seems if anything, watch fobby to me. It reminds me a little of the commem. medal that General Homma had struck after occupying the Philippines. It seems like a few of those had small loops attached as well.
