    Japanese bread bag

    Hello guys,

I've found this bag in a equipment lot.

I think it's a bread bag but not really sure. I don't collect japanese items, so if someone can tell me what is it?

    Thank you very much!

    Hi Ruddy,

You are correct, it is as you say a WW2 Japanese Army bread bag. The belt hook has been cut off, it would have been between the shoulder straps. There should be an issue stamp with a date on it somewhere on the interior back panel.

It's just a guess but looks like the name Yamatani is written on it, maybe you'll get some real help on that later (from someone smarter than I). Not uncommon to find named Japanese gear.

Don't quote me on the smallest kanji (which I think is "ki", tool/equipment)

        二組
        Ni-gumi
        2nd Group

        山谷
        ki Yamatani
        [yama/san=mountain; tani/ya=valley]
        equipment/container YAMATANI

        器 【き】(suffix) (1) device; instrument; (2) vessel; container

          Hello

Could you give me an idea of the value of this bag?

May be I'll not keep it. Thank you!

If you don't find army issue stamps on it, it is simply a post war school bag for a kid in class 2 at school.

I've forgotten to search. I'll look for this evening.

              Thank you
