    S.O.S. Naval Tachi

Thought I would post some pics of the Naval Tachi I picked up at the S.O.S. I was hunting Tanker Goggles and on the hunt this piece caught my eye.I couldn't find the nice Kyu Gunto I was looking for so when I saw this one in a rack full of rough pieces I thought That looks out of place..Whats wrong with it? I asked if I could look at it and when I removed it from the saya it looked like someone had been eating nachos and the fingerprints were everywhere so bad I told the owner that I was not the one who had put the prints on the blade so as not to be blamed.Thankfully the blade was stainless. No nicks or chips and matching bench numbers on the fittings and everything was there so I snagged it.Got back to the table and wiped it off with a paper towel and it was good as new..Nice to find a naval piece for a change.

Hello Ern,The Tang is unsigned lightly stamped anchor in circle and painted and stamped assembly numbers.Matching stamped numbers on Tsuba, Seppa, and Saya.

Hello Frank,Thank you for the kind words. As far as display I have a three sword stand on the buffet in my dining room and I alternate the swords about once a month it keeps it interesting and that way I can inspect and study them whenever I have a little time. It also reminds me to wipe them with fresh oil before I swap them out.A little finishing up of remodeling and I can start on my WAR ROOM! Geoff

                    Congrats mate. Nice condition.
Nice tsuka with canvas instead of leather or sharkskin.
I cant remember seen that combination of canvas on tsuka and saya with sharkskin.

Is it possible not the scabbard originaly go with this particular sword?

It would be near impossible to fit saya to another blade.
